The Grand Valley Lions Club was chartered in June 1951 under the sponsorship of the Orangeville Lions Club.
Our first president of the Club was the late A. E. McIntyre.
Lion Dick Spruyt has served as the Governor of District A9.

Lions Dick Spruyt and Ossie Foreman have served as Deputy-District Governor of District A9

Lions Bruce Johnston, Ron Feikema, Larry Campbell, Ossie Foreman, Dick Spruyt and Rick Nussey have served as Zone Chairmen of Zone 39 East. Lions Dick Spruyt and Ossie Foreman are Melvin Jones recipients and are Life Members.

The Grand Valley Lions Club has had many fund raisers and have supported a great many groups and causes over the last 57years.
Some of the causes and groups that we have supported are: Lions Foundation of Canada, Guide Dogs, Christmas Baskets, Sports Clubs, 85 Tornado Squadron Air Cadets, Youth Exchange, Lions Parks, Tennis Court, Founded the Grand Valley Fire Department, Cubs, Guides, 4-H and highway cleanup. A Citizens Night is held every April. We sponsor an annual effective speaking contest and a Peace Poster Contest.
The Club has held many dances over the years, most notably, The Guy Lombardo Dance in 1967, which drew an attendance of more than 4000 people. We run Turkey Shoots in the Fall, the Lions, along with Minor Skating, sponsors and helps organize the Duck Race in May.
The Club participates in the annual Grand Valley Fall Fair parade and In the Annual Santa Claus Parade. .

In June 2002 the Grand Valley Lions Club held its 50th Anniversary Celebration at the Grand Valley and District Community Centre.

LIONS CODE OF ETHICS

TO SHOW my faith in the worthiness of my vocation by industrious application to the end that I may merit a reputation for quality of service.
TO SEEK success and to demand all fair remuneration or profit as my just due, but to accept no profit or success at the price of my own self-respect lost because of unfair advantage taken or because of questionable acts on my part.
TO REMEMBER that in building up my business it is not necessary to tear down another's; to be loyal to my clients or customers and true to myself.
WHENEVER a doubt arises to the right or ethics of my position or action towards others, to resolve such doubt against myself.
TO HOLD friendship as an end and not a means. To hold that true friendship exists not on account of service performed by one to another, but that true friendship demands nothing but accepts service in the spirit in which it is given.
ALWAYS to bear in mind my obligations as a citizen to my nation, my province and my community and to give them my unswerving loyalty in word, act and deed. To give them freely of my time, labour and means.
TO AID others by giving my sympathy to those in distress, my aid to the weak, and my substance to the needy.
TO BE CAREFUL with my criticisms and liberal with my praise; to build up and not destroy.

Place: The Grand Valley Lions Club meets in the Masonic Hall Dining Lounge,

(upstairs and behind the Home Hardware on Main Street in Grand Valley).
Meeting Times: Social 6:30 – Dinner 7 p.m. on 1st and 3rd Wednesdays

(each month from September to June)

Dues : $200 per year which cover all meals and International/Zone fees
